HISTORY

Rangers Cricket Club began as Christian Brothers Burwood Old Boys (CBBOB). In 1963Denis Klein, a former student of Christian Brothers Burwood, returned to the school in the role of a teacher which he maintained for his entire working life.
Denis soon recognised a need for the boys of Christian Brothers Burwood to remain connected after completing their high school education. So, in 1966, to meet this need, Christian Brothers Burwood Old Boys Cricket Club was formed.
Known phonetically as Seebobs, for over 50 years former schoolmates could meet again each Saturday of the warmer months sharing the thrill of a sporting challenge, comradery, and the development of lifelong friendships.
In 2009 the final class of Christian Brothers Burwood students graduated bringing down the curtain on one hundred years of adventurous educational journeys for a multitude of young boys in the Burwood area. Some success over those years saw CBBOB reach more than a dozen Grand Finals with the most recent premierships in season 89/90 in Grade C2; season 07/08 in 3rd Grade; and13/14 in 6th Grade. And too many close calls to mention are enough to break the hardest of hearts.
As the years passed by and the number of Christian Brothers Burwood old boys playing began to disappear, the time had arrived to explore a new name while still retaining the memory of a rich history.
Having played our home games on Rudd Park for many years, the name Rudd Park Rangers was touted. As luck would have it though, Rudd Park was being redeveloped around the same time, with our home games now moved to nearby Flockhart Park. But the Rangers name stuck, and so Rangers Cricket Club was born. A new identity but never losing sight of our beginnings, our crest bears a nod to those OldBoys, and the trail they blazed for those who follow.
